Thanks to that gap, leaning on the bench never reaches the balance. The weighing slab is made from a dense material, most often granite with a low resonant frequency, and the whole table weighs 80 to 150 kg. **When is a weighing table unnecessary?** Technical balances reading to 0.1 g or 0.01 g do not need an anti vibration station. A weighing table is planned for analytical balances, where repeatability down to 0.1 mg matters.
