How is a laboratory anti-vibration table built?

This means that the outer worktop is physically separated from the internal, stable base on whichthe laboratory balance is placed. The basis of the entire structure is a solid steel frame, i.e. a reinforced, welded metal structure made of closed profiles. How do vibroisolators and weighing plates work?
The principle of operation is based on mechanical isolation, i.e. the separation of the measuring element from the vibrations of the ground. For this purpose, vibroisolators are used, which act as vibration dampers – they absorb vibration energy and limit its transfer to the measuring station. These can be elastomers, special shock absorbers or rubber platforms that effectively reduce vibrations and improve the vibration insulation of the entire system.
The second important element is the weigh modulus, which is a heavy, isolated part of the table on whichthe laboratory balance is placed. This weighing plate acts as a stable measuring base and is separated from the rest of the structure, which reduces the impact of external interference. High-density materials such as granite, quartz-granite conglomerate, ceramics, and sometimes marble are used to make it. They are often placed on a stable concrete base, which further increases the weight and stability of the entire system.
The whole thing works thanks to the phenomenon of inertia – the greater the weight of the table (usually from 80 kg to 150 kg), the more effectively the structure dampens vibrations and ensures stable measuring conditions. Therefore, a heavy anti-vibration plate or stone worktop is the basis for precision weighing stations, where maximum accuracy and repeatability of results are important.
What is a weighing table used for in a laboratory?

How do I properly install and level a weighing table?
Assembling a weighing table begins with setting up its base, i.e. the supporting element. First, an internal anti-vibration frame and a supporting structure are installed, which is responsible for the stability of the entire system. The outer enclosure and worktop are then assembled, creating a complete laboratory station as part of the standard assembly of laboratory furniture.
It is very important to maintain the expansion joints between the modules – usually about 10 mm. Such a distance ensures that vibrations from the worktop do not transfer to the part where the scale is located, which protects the measurements from interference.
The next stage is leveling the table. Adjustment feet are used for this, most often in the form of screw feet finished with rubber feet. They allow you to precisely adjust the height even on uneven floors, and at the same time they are the first layer of vibration damping.
Correct levelling is crucial – only a stable table guarantees effective isolation of the balance from vibrations and ensures repeatable working conditions in the laboratory.
How do I clean and maintain my weighing station?
Proper care of the weighing station has a great impact on its durability and stability of operation in laboratory conditions. In the case of granite slabs, only products with a neutral pH should be used, i.e. mild detergents designed for natural stone. Thanks to this, surface cleaning does not damage the polished structure and does not reduce its anti-vibration properties.
A frame made of stainless steel requires a slightly different approach – chlorine-containing preparations should be avoided, as they can lead to pitting corrosion. Regular care with the use of gentle agents allows you to maintain the durability and aesthetics of the structure for a long time.
For laminate worktops, standard surface cleaning with mild detergents and a soft cloth is sufficient. It is also important to maintain proper laboratory conditions to limit the impact of moisture, contaminants and temperature on the entire measuring system.
